Italian libraries launch new educational and digital initiatives
Various Italian local institutions are implementing new educational and technical initiatives for their libraries.
In Montemurlo, the Bartolomeo Della Fonte municipal library is launching ‘Racconti sull’Arte’, a series of free Saturday art workshops for children aged 3 to 8. These sessions include themes such as Monet’s Garden and Street Art. Additionally, the library will undergo a technical IT system update for cataloging and loan management from September 12 to 20, during which borrowing and returning services will be temporarily suspended.
In Udine, the Istituto Comprensivo 2 has begun a project to network its eight school libraries. Supported by the BB Leva89 APS association, which donated approximately 150 books and barcode readers, the initiative aims to make the school's literary heritage digitally accessible to students and teachers. The project is starting with the digital cataloging of the Montessori section at the Garzoni school.
