Italy sees waste collection failures in Reggio Calabria and ferry service complaints on Ischia

In Reggio Calabria, the consumer association Federconsumatori reported that waste collection has not taken place for over three weeks on Via Saracinello, leading to accumulated rubbish, foul odors and sanitary concerns. The association has formally appealed to the municipal waste contractor Ecologia Oggi, the local administration and the regional authorities, demanding immediate removal of the waste and restoration of regular service.

Separately, the transport association New Atec lodged a formal notice against ferry operator Caremar, accusing the company of operating an inadequate fleet on routes to Ischia and Procida during the peak tourist season. New Atec cited the reduced capacity of substitute vessels, such as the fast ferry Isola di Vulcano, which can carry only half the load of the sidelined Adeona and cannot accommodate larger trucks, causing significant disruption to goods transport.
