Italian man arrested with €140,000 cash on Rome high‑speed train

Police of the Italian Railway (Polfer) stopped an Italian passenger at Rome’s Termini station during a routine check on an Alta Velocità train. The traveler appeared agitated when asked for his documents, prompting officers to inspect his large backpack. Inside they found sealed plastic bags containing roughly €140,000 in cash of various denominations. The man could not explain the source or purpose of the money and was charged with illegal receipt of goods (ricettazione). The entire amount was seized and placed under investigation to determine its origin and any possible links to unlawful activity.
