Italian manicure technique trends on social media

The Italian manicure is a trending nail technique gaining popularity on social media for its ability to make short nails appear longer, slimmer, and more elegant.

Unlike traditional methods, this technique involves leaving a tiny gap on either side of the nail rather than applying polish all the way to the side walls. Nail artist Anouska Anastasia describes the method as an “optical illusion” similar to contouring, where the eye focuses on a narrower block of color to create the appearance of length.

While the technique is universally flattering, it is noted to work particularly well with almond and oval nail shapes, which already possess naturally elongated silhouettes.
