Lake Garda faces bike traffic restrictions and warm September weather
Mayors of lakeside towns on Italy’s Lake Garda have warned that growing numbers of cycling groups are creating safety risks on the Gardesana road. Adelio Zeni, mayor of Gardone Riviera, and Stefano Nicotra, mayor of Torri del Benaco, have called for temporary bans on racing‑bike training rides during the summer months and for measures such as speed limits, traffic calming devices and a possible licence‑plate requirement for bicycles.
At the same time, September weather at Lake Garda remains mild enough for tourism. Forecasts show daytime highs of up to 25 °C and lake‑water temperatures between 18 °C and 20 °C, meaning swimming and other outdoor activities can continue well into early autumn.
