Italian media leaders address industry shifts and QN Media restructuring
Italian media figures are addressing the evolving landscape of journalism, focusing on economic survival and editorial integrity. During an ANSO assembly in Rome, Open publisher Enrico Mentana discussed the challenges posed by artificial intelligence, influencer-driven information, and advertiser pressure. Mentana emphasized that certain principles regarding science, crime, and human rights are non-negotiable, even as he noted a trend toward inviting controversial figures into mainstream discourse.
In a separate development in Bologna, entrepreneur Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio presented his vision for the newly acquired QN Media group. Aiming to create a major European media entity, Del Vecchio plans to consolidate traditional titles including Il Resto del Carlino, La Nazione, Il Giorno, and Quotidiano Nazionale. The restructuring, described by director Agnese Pini as a radical transformation, is set to officially launch on November 5.
