Italian Memorial Textile Projects Honor Palestinian Children Killed in Gaza

In the southern Italian town of Pisticci, a 25‑metre white cloth called the “Sudario dei bambini palestinesi” will be displayed on 7 August as part of the Lucania Film Festival 2026. The fabric bears the handwritten names of 18,457 Palestinian children and youths killed in Gaza since 7 October 2023. The project was created by the collective Carnia per la Pace and was inspired by journalist Paola Caridi, who called for “not forgetting a single name.”

From 7 to 16 August, the town of Monteprandone will host the textile installation “5,7 km di grida nel silenzio.” The 5.7‑kilometre strip, conceived by artists Cristina Pedrocco and Elena Gradara, carries the names of more than 20,000 Palestinian children killed in the Gaza conflict. The work, assembled by over 400 groups from across Italy, is exhibited in the ex‑Codici hall of the Palazzo Comunale and includes public readings and participation. Both initiatives aim to give visibility to the civilian casualties of the Gaza war and to foster reflection on human rights and memory.
