Italian military and Carabinieri receive honors in Palermo ceremonies

In Palermo, Sicily, two separate ceremonies were held to honor members of the Italian military and law enforcement for exceptional service and bravery.

The 4th Engineer Regiment of the Italian Army was awarded the Bronze Cross of Merit for its assistance during natural disasters in Niscemi and along Sicily’s eastern coast following Cyclone Harry. The ceremony, held at the “Ciro Scianna” barracks, coincided with the regiment's centenary and was attended by Army Chief of Staff General Carmine Masiello.

Additionally, a ceremony at the “Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa” barracks honored Carabinieri personnel with Maurizian Medals for 25 years of meritorious service and 83 commendations for professional excellence. Notable recognitions included two Carabinieri who rescued children from a house fire in San Giuseppe Jato, and the Palermo Investigative Nucleus for their role in Operation “Grande Inverno,” which resulted in the arrest of 181 individuals linked to organized crime.
