German toxin experts inspect Pietracatella home in ricin murder probe
Antonella Di Ielsi and her 15‑year‑old daughter Sara Di Vita were found dead from ricin poisoning, allegedly on Christmas. Their home on Via Risorgimento in Pietracatella was seized on 28 December and remained sealed for more than six months.
The Larino prosecution, led by prosecutor Elvira Antonelli, is investigating a double homicide aggravated by premeditation and the use of a poisonous agent. No suspects have been entered into the register; the inquiry proceeds against unknown persons.
German experts from the Robert Koch Institute – Christian Herzog and Dr Silvia Worbs – together with agents of the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) arrived in Molise to conduct a decisive on‑site inspection on 30 July. The inspection, scheduled for Thursday morning at around 9 a.m., will involve sampling of furniture, clothing, floors, walls and other surfaces to detect ricin residues, with remote streaming and video documentation provided by the prosecution.
