Italian mountain cheese festivals report growth and upcoming 2026 events

The first weekend of the Made in Malga 2026 event in Asiago reported an increase in both visitor attendance and turnover for producers compared to previous years. The national mountain cheese event featured various masterclasses, including sessions on Asiago DOP and Sicilian wines, as well as tastings of Italian Cheese Awards finalists. A second weekend is scheduled for September 11–13, featuring programs such as a masterclass on Turkish Kars cheeses and a comparison of high-altitude European blue cheeses.

In Valle Camonica, the seventh edition of the Fiormaggi 2026 competition is scheduled for October 19–22. Organized by the non-profit PromAzioni360, the event focuses on mountain cheeses produced from cow, sheep, or goat milk from free-range animals. The competition includes six categories, such as Silter DOP and Nostrano, with a jury of industry professionals evaluating samples based on appearance, aroma, taste, and structure.
