Italian mountain music festivals showcase folk and contemporary sounds

On 25 July, the town of Vigo di Fassa hosted the free concert “Neves”, blending Alpine folk traditions with modern folk arrangements. The concert featured diatonic accordion, cello, percussion and other instruments, aiming to evoke the Dolomites’ landscapes.

The Appennino Festival 2026 runs from 2 August to 22 September across the Emilia‑Romagna mountains. Organized by director Maddalena Scagnelli, the program includes around twenty events that combine popular traditions with cultured music, with performances in locations such as the Sella dei Generali pasture in Coli and venues in Rivergaro, Bobbio and other municipalities.

An accompanying essay celebrates the cultural and mythical heritage of the Monti Sibillini, describing its historic legends, the Lake of Pilato and the region’s role as a source of inspiration for artists and writers.
