Italian municipalities address road damage in Verona and Vimercate
On July 1 a section of Via Nievo at its intersection with Via Mentana in Verona collapsed after a sewer collector pipe failed. Local authorities cordoned the area, introduced alternating one‑way traffic and detours via Via Madonna del Terraglio, and scheduled repair works to begin on 6 July lasting about 15 days.
The municipal council of Vimercate approved a 182,175‑euro pavement renewal program for several streets in the Oreno and Velasca districts, including Via Per Arcore, Via Vanoni, Via Pirandello and Via Martiri di Belfiore. The project will mill the existing surface, lay a new bituminous layer and restore road markings, financed from an administrative advance as part of the 2026‑2028 public‑works plan.
