Italian municipalities address security and agricultural regulations

Various administrative and security updates have been reported across several Italian municipalities. In Mola di Bari, local authorities, the Guardia di Finanza, and the SIAN held a meeting to address the direct sale of agricultural products. The goal is to balance the preservation of local traditions with legal and hygienic compliance. Officials clarified that recent sanctions were limited in number and did not target the traditional direct-sale practices themselves. The municipality plans to work with the Puglia Region to establish clearer regulatory frameworks for farmers.

In Mercogliano, the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security met to address a recent rise in thefts. While reported thefts have increased slightly compared to 2025, authorities noted a significant rise in the identification of suspects. To combat crime, the municipality is currently upgrading its video surveillance system, which is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2026.

In Salerno, leadership changes are occurring within the local law enforcement agencies. Prefect Francesco Esposito announced the departure of Carabinieri Provincial Commander Filippo Melchiorre, who will move to a role in Rome, and Police Deputy Questore Anna Filomena Palmisano, who has been appointed to lead a State Police structure.
