Italian municipalities advance historical restoration projects

Several Italian municipalities are completing significant restoration projects to preserve historical and architectural heritage.

In Sant’Agata di Puglia, a major restoration project has begun in the Chiancato-Monteforte district. Funded entirely by the municipality, the initiative targets the facades of private residences along several streets, including Monteforte and Chiancato. The work aims to recover original stone and brick elements by removing modern plaster and paint. Mayor Pietro Bove stated the project seeks to restore the area's historical beauty, providing these services to participating citizens free of charge.

In Spello, the local government has concluded a program to recover three historical sites damaged during the 2016 earthquake. With a public investment exceeding 500,000 euros, the works included the Oratorio di San Giovanni Battista, the former Church of Santa Barbara, and Porta Urbica. The final phase at the 17th-century Oratorio focused on structural improvements and seismic damage repair while maintaining the building's original architectural characteristics.
