Italian municipalities advance local sports infrastructure projects

Municipalities in Italy are advancing local sports infrastructure projects to support community fitness and athletic training.

In Positano, construction of a new municipal gym within the Vittorio De Sica Stadium complex in Montepertuso has entered its final stages. Funded by a 622,000 euro grant from the national ‘Sport e Periferie’ program, the multi-purpose indoor space is designed for fitness and social interaction. Recent work has focused on installing technological systems and interior finishes. Local authorities have implemented temporary traffic and parking restrictions on via Carlo Attanasio to ensure safety during the completion of the works.

In Avola, redevelopment is underway at the Meno Di Pasquale municipal stadium. Mayor Rossana Cannata stated that investments are being directed toward improving parking, increasing seating capacity, and upgrading locker rooms and services. The project also includes the introduction of new pole vault equipment to allow local athletes to train in the discipline within the city, aiming to provide better opportunities for youth sports development.
