Italian municipalities approve 2026 waste tax projections

Municipalities in Italy have finalized waste tax (TARI) projections for 2026, reflecting significant financial obligations for local residents.

In Battipaglia, the municipal financial sector approved a TARI role totaling approximately €12.89 million, an increase of nearly €400,000 compared to the previous year. This figure includes a provincial tax (TEFA) of €645,174.52 destined for the Province of Salerno. The municipality has established a payment schedule allowing for four installments or a single lump sum, with the first deadline set for October 31, 2026. To assist low-income households, a fund of €991,073.94 has been allocated for social bonuses, though high demand has necessitated a downward revision of aid percentages.

In Manfredonia, the administration approved a TARI advance payment totaling €9.82 million, covering 29,222 taxpayers. The municipal portion of this amount is €9.16 million, supplemented by provincial taxes and equalization components. These components include funds for managing accidentally caught waste, relief for exceptional or calamitous events, and the social waste bonus. The current amounts are calculated based on 2025 rates, with a final settlement expected once 2026 tariffs are officially approved.
