Italian municipalities approve social welfare funding in Crotone and Ferrara

Italian municipalities in Crotone and Ferrara have approved new social welfare funding and strategic plans to support vulnerable populations.

In Crotone, the City Council approved a resolution proposed by Social Policy Assessor Maria Lucia Cosentino to utilize 705,033.36 euros from the National Fund for Non-Self-Sufficiency. These funds are dedicated to ensuring continuity in care pathways for individuals with severe disabilities. The administration will prioritize the ‘care allowance’ (assegno di cura) to prevent service interruptions during the transition to a new organizational model.

In Ferrara, the City Council approved the 2026 Zone Plan for the Centro-Nord district, a program valued at over 1.5 million euros. Proposed by Socio-Sanitary Policy Assessor Cristina Coletti, the plan includes 90 socio-sanitary projects. The initiatives aim to support adolescents, families, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Specific focus areas include neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, oncology patient support, and combating social isolation among the elderly.
