Italian municipalities coordinate school assistance for students with disabilities

Municipalities in Italy are working to ensure that school assistance services for students with disabilities are available from the first day of classes.

In Chieti, the local administration is collaborating with Chieti Solidale and educational institutions to coordinate services. This effort aims to account for varying school start dates caused by institutional autonomy, ensuring that assistance begins as soon as each individual student starts their lessons rather than waiting for the official regional calendar date.

In Trapani, the Disability Guarantor, Vincenza Spada, has addressed concerns regarding the start of the Asacom (Assistance for Autonomy and Communication) service. Following worries raised by Anffas Trapani about potential delays, Spada provided assurances that the service is expected to begin alongside the start of the school year. She noted that several cooperatives have already begun organizing staff and schedules for the upcoming term.
