Italian municipalities expand surveillance and license plate monitoring

Local authorities in several Italian municipalities are implementing advanced technological surveillance systems to combat crime and enhance urban security.

In Ragusa, the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security has approved an integrated video surveillance plan. The strategy includes installing new systems at 33 strategic sites, specifically targeting historical centers and school areas to prevent micro-criminality. In Modica, a memorandum of understanding has been signed to connect local license plate reading technology to the National Police Control System, allowing for real-time alarms regarding suspicious vehicles.

In Rozzano, officials have signed off on works to create a new local police control room as part of the Caivano bis extraordinary plan. This project involves the installation of 430 new cameras across 110 strategic points and 56 license plate readers at key access points and main roads. The new infrastructure is designed to support investigative activities and provide real-time video flow management.
