Italian municipalities expand video surveillance networks

Municipalities in Italy are expanding their video surveillance networks to enhance public safety and monitoring capabilities.

In Capannoli, the local government has approved an 80,000 euro project to install ten new cameras and upgrade the existing control room. The municipality has requested funding from the Ministry of the Interior to implement the plan, which includes strategic locations such as Piazza Pertini, Piazza San Bartolomeo, and various public squares and roads. The initiative aims to provide local police and law enforcement with better tools for territorial control.

Similarly, Jesi has approved a technical-economic feasibility project to modernize its technological safeguards. Following a renewed security pact with the Prefecture of Ancona, the administration plans to request ministerial funds to install cameras in sensitive areas, including the via Gherardi exchange parking lot, pedestrian underpasses, and Piazza Pergolesi. The project features an advanced infrastructure with a centralized server and an operational center designed to allow for future expansions, such as license plate recognition.
