Italian municipalities grant 2026 civic honors

The council of Cassano d’Adda approved a list of 2026 civic merit awardees, recognizing volunteer, cultural and civic contributions. Honorees include musician Roberto Brambilla, retired lieutenant‑colonel of the Carabinieri Sabato Covone, the blood‑donor association Avis Cassano on its 90th anniversary, a local volunteer group, social activist Angela Magni, and opera singer Giuseppe Riva for lifelong artistic work. The official ceremony is scheduled for October during the town’s patron saint festival.

In Cassano Magnago, the municipal council voted unanimously on 27 July to award the 2026 civic honor to Dr. Alessandro Zaroli, citing his medical excellence, cultural engagement, and long‑standing volunteer leadership as president of the Asilo Infantile San Giulio. Opposition council members voiced criticism of the decision. The award will be presented on 22 September at the patron saint celebration.
