Municipalities in Italy are implementing measures to allow citizens to regularize unpaid local taxes through facilitated payment schemes.

In Gela, the municipal council approved a resolution for the facilitated definition of local taxes. Mayor Terenziano Di Stefano stated the measure aims to provide concrete relief to citizens who were unable to meet payment deadlines. The mayor credited the Budget Commission for the work leading to the approval and criticized the center-right opposition for their absence during the vote.

In Cosenza, center-right opposition councilors announced that the municipal administration is preparing to extend the deadlines for the facilitated tax definition. The opposition claims this extension is a result of their formal requests to address operational difficulties faced by taxpayers and professionals. They have also filed a request to convene the City Council to ensure a transparent public discussion regarding the procedure.
