Italian municipalities implement new traffic safety measures

Local authorities in Italy are implementing new measures to enhance road safety and traffic management in Venaria Reale and Sesto Fiorentino.

In Venaria Reale, the municipal government has launched the installation of two new high-tech speed cameras at the ring road junction on Corso Garibaldi. These devices are designed to monitor red-light violations in both directions across all lanes, replacing an older system that only monitored traffic heading toward the city center. The 36-month service contract for installation and maintenance has been awarded to EngiNe, with civil works being handled by Impresa Piazza Srl. This move aims to reduce accidents on a strategic artery connecting Turin to the Lanzo Valleys.

Meanwhile, Sesto Fiorentino is introducing 18 new ‘30 km/h zones’ within its city center. These zones will cover various streets and squares, including Piazza Vittorio Veneto and Piazza del Mercato, specifically targeting areas near schools, commercial activities, and public services. The speed limit changes will be implemented gradually through vertical signage followed by horizontal road markings. Major high-traffic arteries and ring roads will be excluded from these restrictions.
