Italian municipalities implement urban decorum measures

Municipalities in Italy are implementing new measures to address urban decorum and waste management issues. In Abbiategrasso, authorities have completed the removal of 13 abandoned vehicles from Aler residential courtyards in via Boccherini and via Vivaldi. The operation included five cars destroyed in a fire on July 8, 2025. Mayor Cesare Nai stated that the successful removal of these long-abandoned vehicles establishes a procedure that will allow the city to target other abandoned vehicles. A new operation is scheduled to begin on August 28 in via Fusè and via Fratelli Cervi, where 68 vehicles have been identified for disposal.

In Sulzano, the local administration has decided to reduce and reorganize the placement of public trash bins following misuse documented by video surveillance. Despite existing door-to-door recycling services, residents were frequently using public bins for improper disposal, leading to morning litter. Mayor Paola Pezzotti confirmed that 8 of the town's 65 bins have been removed. While the administration aims to improve cleanliness and order, the local Legambiente branch has criticized the move, arguing that reducing services does not solve the underlying problem of improper waste disposal.
