Italian municipalities implement waste tax changes in Gattinara and Cutro

Local administrations in Italy are addressing waste tax (TARI) management and rates through different strategic approaches.

In Gattinara, the municipal administration has implemented a significant reduction in TARI rates. Domestic users can expect an average savings of approximately 11%, driven by a 20% decrease in the fixed portion and a 9% decrease in the variable portion. Non-domestic users, including businesses and professionals, will see an average reduction of about 17%, with the fixed portion dropping by 20% and the variable portion by 12%. Mayor Maria Vittoria Casazza and Vice Mayor Daniele Baglione stated the goal is to return resources to the community and alleviate fiscal pressure.

In Cutro, the “Costruiamo il Futuro” council group has proposed a strategy focused on long-term waste management and tax equity. Rather than simple service cuts, which they argue lack sufficient margins, the group suggests combating tax evasion through increased controls on unlisted users and improved collection capabilities. Their proposal emphasizes a reorganization that protects current workers while preparing for future regional waste management evolutions.
