Italian municipalities impose over 100 fines for illegal waste dumping

In the Ligurian city of Imperia, municipal environmental inspectors have issued more than 100 penalties to citizens and restaurateurs for illegally discarding waste. Typical sanctions include a €450 fine for dumping trash on streets, with additional penalties for placing bags in public bins or throwing waste from vehicle windows.

Meanwhile, local police forces across other Italian towns carried out extensive checks on businesses and public spaces. Authorities seized large amounts of mixed waste, removed abandoned street furniture, and confiscated several vehicles, including six deemed abandoned. Twenty citations were issued for traffic violations, and dozens of establishments were found operating without proper permits, including two mechanical workshops subject to criminal seizure. Inspectors also identified illegal workers at an event venue, prompting further enforcement actions.
