Italian municipalities inaugurate new municipal nursery schools
Several Italian municipalities are inaugurating or reopening municipal nursery schools to expand early childhood education services.
In Taranto, municipal nurseries will begin the 2026/2027 educational year early on September 1st. The initiative includes new projects like ‘Piccoli Naviganti alla scoperta di Taranto’ to introduce children to local traditions and features modernized educational environments.
Crema has opened a new nursery in via Desti, a 3.7 million euro facility partially funded by PNRR grants. The center will accommodate 48 children across three sections, aiming to address declining birth rates by increasing local childcare capacity.
In Remedello, the new municipal nursery has been named ‘Emanuela Loi’ in honor of the police officer killed in the 1992 via D’Amelio massacre, symbolizing values of legality and courage.
Cesenatico has inaugurated a sustainable nursery in via Leone, which will host 59 children starting September 10th. The facility includes a new infant section and features renewable energy sources and specialized pedagogical spaces.
Maniago has also inaugurated the ‘Pettirosso’ nursery, supported by PNRR funds and regional investment.
