Italian municipalities intensify waste penalties and install dog‑waste bins

The city of Montesilvano has stepped up enforcement against illegal waste dumping. From 1 April to 30 May 2026 the local police issued 144 fines, collecting roughly €20,000. Two patrol units, one operating in civilian clothes, conduct daily checks and now patrol until midnight. The municipality will also deploy ten AI‑enabled video traps to monitor hotspots.

In Vimodrone, officials have added a network of bright red bins dedicated to canine waste collection. The containers are placed in parks, near schools and busy streets such as Via Cattaneo and Via Cesare Battisti. The council urges dog owners to use the bins, stressing that keeping public spaces clean is a shared responsibility.
