Italian municipalities issue safety orders for weather and wildlife

Local authorities in different Italian regions have issued safety ordinances in response to environmental and wildlife concerns.

In Bagno a Ripoli, Mayor Francesco Pignotti has declared an orange weather alert due to the risk of heavy thunderstorms and hydrogeological hazards. The measures, effective from the night of August 20 to the evening of August 21, include the closure of public parks, gardens, and cemeteries, as well as the cancellation of the weekly market in Grassina. Sports facilities are also closed, and citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from watercourses and underpasses.

In Riccione, Mayor Daniela Angelini has ordered the temporary nighttime closure of three city parks—Parco della Resistenza, Parco Chico Mendes, and Parco degli Olivetani—following sightings of a wolf in the urban area. The restriction, in effect from August 19 to September 3, prohibits access to these green spaces between 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM to ensure public safety while regional wildlife services work to move the animal away from the city center.
