Italian municipalities launch 2026 rent assistance programs

Several Italian municipalities have opened application periods for 2026 rent assistance programs to support vulnerable residents.

In the Unione Valdera region, specifically for Pontedera, applications for rent integration contributions must be submitted online by 2:00 PM on September 4, 2026. The program is available to qualifying family units based on specific ISEE income thresholds. Digital assistance is available through local points in the various municipalities of the Unione, though appointments are required.

In Arezzo, a specific call for applications has been released for residents who are either over 65 years old (having reached that age by December 31, 2025) and retired, or families including members with disabilities. Eligible applicants must hold a valid residence permit if they are non-EU citizens and meet specific ISEE financial criteria, including a standard ISEE not exceeding 16,500 euros. Applications for the Arezzo program must be submitted online between August 28, 2026, and September 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM.
