Italian municipalities launch active‑aging projects for seniors

The Centro Anziani in Marino held a celebration on 14 May 2026 to mark the conclusion of an active‑aging project for people aged 60 and over. The programme, coordinated by Trem Italia and funded with €8,000 from a regional grant, offered theory lessons on navigation, nutrition and safety, followed by five outdoor trekking routes through the Castelli Romani area. Approximately thirty participants, including two octogenarians, completed the walks, receiving backpacks, water bottles and shirts. Local officials—including Marino’s mayor Stefano Cecchi, the police chief Silvio Riccardi and representatives of the BCC Colli Albani‑Nettuno bank—attended the event and praised the social and health benefits.

Separately, the municipality of Formigine announced the continuation of its summer‑stay program for residents over 70, arranging accommodation in Cervia. The initiative is part of Formigine’s broader "Città Longeva" strategy aimed at fostering inter‑generational relations and improving the wellbeing of its older citizens.
