Italian municipalities launch initiatives against violence against women

Local Italian municipalities are implementing symbolic and institutional measures to combat violence against women. In Potenza, Mayor Vincenzo Telesca announced the city's support for a national campaign titled ‘Contro la violenza sulle donne: Mai bandiera bianca’ (Against violence against women: Never a white flag). The initiative, promoted by Anci and the Department for Equal Opportunities, involves displaying a symbolic flag at the City Hall to honor the memory of Lorena Isceri and advocate for concrete institutional action.

In Costigliole Saluzzo, the community inaugurated its first ‘Red Bench’ in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II. The project was developed by the association Trame di Luoghi in collaboration with the Mai+Sole anti-violence center. The red bench serves as a tangible symbol to remember women who have lost their lives to violence and to promote a culture of respect within the local community.
