Italian municipalities launch initiatives to support and improve public libraries

Local municipalities in Italy are implementing initiatives to enhance and support public libraries. In Bondeno, the administration is allocating resources to improve the accessibility of the ‘L. Meletti’ library. This project aims to assist vulnerable individuals through both physical improvements, such as new furniture and layouts, and technological advancements. The municipality has already implemented a coding and labeling system to facilitate communication and spatial navigation, a move intended to support inclusive learning and cultural participation.

In La Valletta Brianza, the municipality has joined the ‘Art Bonus’ program to encourage donations for the Civic Library. Through this measure, citizens and businesses can make tax-deductible contributions to expand the library’s book collection and support its diverse programming. The library currently hosts various community activities, including the ‘Nati per Leggere’ program for young children, reading promotion for students, and workshops for adults.
