Italian municipalities launch initiatives to support elderly citizens
Local administrations in Italy are implementing various programs aimed at improving the well-being and security of elderly residents. In the Marsica region, the municipalities of Aielli, Cerchio, and Collarmele have launched an active aging project for citizens over 65. The initiative focuses on socialization, autonomy, and community participation through activities such as IT courses, nutrition and health workshops, gentle gymnastics, pilates, and cultural excursions.
In Cremona, the municipality has introduced a social theater project titled ‘Non ci caschiamo – Insieme sicuri contro le truffe agli anziani’ (We won't fall for it – Safe together against scams targeting the elderly). Funded by the Ministry of the Interior, the program uses forum theater to help seniors and their families recognize and respond to common fraudulent tactics, including home visits and telephone scams. The project also includes demonstrations on how artificial intelligence can be used to clone voices for deceptive purposes.
