Italian municipalities launch mosquito control measures
Municipalities in the Marche region of Italy are implementing mosquito control measures to combat the proliferation of common and tiger mosquitoes during the autumn season.
In Fano, the local government has scheduled disinfestation operations from October 15 to October 18. These nighttime interventions will target eight municipal cemeteries and various educational facilities, including nurseries and schools. Vice Mayor and Environmental Councilor Loretta Manocchi stated that the goal is to protect public health through targeted actions in areas frequently used by families and children.
Similarly, Senigallia has planned a new cycle of anti-larval treatments starting October 13. Due to mild autumn weather, the municipality will apply specific products to rainwater drains in public urban areas to prevent larvae and pupae from developing into adult insects. Authorities noted that persistent humidity and standing water can allow mosquitoes to thrive until a sustained period of cold weather arrives.
