Italian municipalities launch new transport services for elderly and disabled

Municipalities in Italy are implementing new transportation services to support elderly citizens, people with disabilities, and those in social fragility.

In Pescantina, the local administration has launched a free public transport service specifically for Tuesday morning markets. Coordinated by the Social Services department, equipped vehicles will collect users near their homes to ensure safe access to the town center, aiming to combat social isolation and logistical barriers.

In Montelabbate, a new vehicle has been added to the municipal fleet to facilitate social transport and civil protection activities. This acquisition was made possible through a fund of over 800,000 euros designated for the Marche region, following donations from Confindustria and trade unions (CGIL, CISL, and UIL) to support areas affected by the 2022 and 2023 floods. The vehicle will assist vulnerable residents in reaching healthcare facilities and other public services.
