Italian municipalities launch new urban infrastructure and security projects

In Italy, two separate municipal projects have been launched to improve urban infrastructure and security.

In the Waterfront di Levante area, the Parco della Foce has been inaugurated. The 17,000-square-meter space includes 5,000 square meters of greenery, featuring 120 trees and 4,000 shrubs. Public Works Assessor Massimo Ferrante noted the project was completed within 12 months, clarifying that the administration implemented a project inherited from the previous administration rather than modifying the original masterplan.

In Foggia, construction has begun on the ‘Nell’occhio del Ciclope’ project, a new urban video surveillance system. Funded by a 250,000-euro grant from the Ministry of the Interior and 300,000 euros from the municipal budget, the 550,000-euro initiative will install 80 cameras across several districts, including Zona 167, Rione Biccari, and Rione Candelaro. The system will include 76 high-resolution devices and four license plate readers, supported by a new fiber optic network to assist law enforcement in crime prevention.
