Italian municipalities launch new videosurveillance projects
Municipalities in the provinces of Catanzaro and Asti are advancing new urban videosurveillance projects to enhance public security and crime prevention.
In Catanzaro, 25 municipalities have received approval from the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security to participate in Ministry of the Interior funding procedures. These projects, valued at approximately 4.2 million euros, seek over 3.8 million euros in state funding. The initiatives aim to implement and upgrade technological systems in strategic areas and locations prone to illegal activity to support local and national police forces.
Similarly, in the Asti region, various municipalities have presented projects to expand surveillance coverage. These plans include installing new equipment and upgrading existing systems, specifically focusing on context cameras and license plate recognition devices. The projects target urban entrances and high-traffic areas, with an emphasis on technological interconnection with police operations centers and improved data management infrastructure.
