Italian municipalities launch urban infrastructure and greening projects

Various Italian cities are implementing significant urban redevelopment, mobility, and environmental projects. In Modica, over 10 million euros have been secured for five major works, including a long-awaited parking area in San Giovanni, a commercial hub at La Sorda, and the city’s first coastal cycle path.

In Palermo, the municipality is expanding its cycling network with a new lane on Viale Lazio and solar-powered lighting along existing routes. Similarly, Ferrara has inaugurated a redesigned northwest access point, utilizing PNRR funds to create pedestrian paths, cycle lanes, and green spaces.

Environmental initiatives are also underway, with Bari planning to plant over 390 new trees to enhance urban greenery, and Civita Castellana redesigning Via Marinetti with native tree species and improved lighting. In Rimini, plans for a large arena near the Fiera have been modified to include 5,000 surface parking spaces and a 15,000-square-meter forest to mitigate environmental impact.
