Italian municipalities launch wetland and natural oasis projects
Municipalities in Italy are launching environmental projects to create new natural oases and wetlands, supported by funding from Fondazione Cariverona.
In Osimo, the municipal government has approved an executive project to transform a lake along the Campocavallo cycle path into a natural oasis. The project involves a total investment of 342,000 euros, with 270,000 euros provided by CariVerona and 72,000 euros from the municipality. The works will include reshaping the lake banks, creating a hygrophilous forest, installing a floating vegetable island for birds and amphibians, and repairing fences and cycle paths damaged by severe weather in 2024.
In Asola, the municipality has secured 436,000 euros from the ‘Capitale naturale 2026’ call to implement the ‘Aware’ project. This initiative aims to create a multifunctional wetland connected to the Vaso Vò canal. Designed as an ecological infrastructure, the site will focus on improving water quality, increasing biodiversity, and serving as a center for scientific research and environmental education in partnership with the University of Parma.
