Italian municipalities reopen main streets after renovation works

The town of Zagarolo restored Via Antonio Fabrini to traffic on 22 June 2026 after a repaving project, ending recent vehicle restrictions. The municipal authority imposed a ban on parking and waiting along the reopened stretch to protect the newly set cement.

In Rome, the first segment of Via Martiri della Libertà was reopened exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists following resurfacing with historic porphyry cobbles. Motor‑vehicle traffic remains suspended to allow the new pavement to settle. The project, fully funded by the city budget at a cost of €490,000, also introduced new signage limiting heavy‑vehicle access and measures to safeguard the historic stone surface.
