Italian municipalities update waste management and collection services
Municipalities in Italy are implementing new waste management procedures and distribution schedules.
In Pioltello, the annual distribution of waste sorting bags managed by AMSA Spa is commencing. For small residential contexts of up to four families, delivery will be made directly to homes between September 2 and September 11, 2026. Residents in larger buildings with five or more families, or those who miss the home delivery, can collect materials at the municipal collection center on Via Sondrio 16 during specific dates in mid-to-late September. An additional pickup opportunity will be available at a stand in Parco di via Cattaneo during local festivities.
In Montecchio Emilia, the municipality is transitioning to a Punctuated Fee Tariff (Tariffa Corrispettiva Puntuale) effective January 1, 2027. This system aims to reward residents and businesses that produce less waste. To prepare for this change, Iren informants will visit households starting September 28, 2026, to verify container codes, replace damaged organic waste bins, and distribute collection materials. Public meetings are scheduled for late September at Sala della Rocca to explain the new billing and collection methods.
