Castel di Casio implements new waste recycling system
Castel di Casio is implementing a new waste management system to improve recycling rates and material recovery. Following a public tender by Atersir for the Bologna territorial basin, Hera has been awarded the contract to manage urban waste for approximately 3,000 users.
Starting in November, waste containers will be progressively replaced with computerized bins designed for user recognition. By February 1, 2027, non-recyclable waste bins will require the ‘Carta Smeraldo’—a physical or virtual environmental services card provided by Hera—to open. Other containers will remain accessible without a card. Additionally, aluminum cans will now be collected with plastic rather than glass.
Residents can collect a new recycling kit, which includes the Carta Smeraldo, an under-sink bin with organic waste bags, and a recycling guide, for free at Hera’s ‘Punti Smeraldo’ service points.
