Italian museum upgrades boost cultural sites in Crotone and Prato
In Crotone, work on the Museo di via Risorgimento is progressing according to schedule. Culture assessor Dalila Venneri inspected the site, noting the installation of new flooring, a modern HVAC system, energy‑efficiency upgrades, a new elevator, staircase and full physical accessibility. The project is coordinated with the Archaeological Parks of Crotone and Sibari and includes the continued promotion of Castello Carlo V and the €7 million Capo Colonna revitalisation, pending regional budget approval.
In Prato, regional culture assessor Cristina Manetti visited the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo with the museum director and diocesan vicario. She highlighted the museum’s distinguished holdings, such as Donatello’s original pulpit, a Botticelli crucifix, and works by Filippino Lippi. The 60‑year anniversary of the pulpit’s placement will be marked on 7 September, and a major restoration of the Madonna della Cintola by Giovanni Pisano is underway. Manetti called for greater promotion of the museum, including expanded museum‑card access, to stimulate cultural tourism and local development.
