Italian music market sees vinyl growth and shifting sales trends

The Italian music market experienced significant shifts in the first half of 2026, with total revenue reaching approximately 225 million euros, a 7.3% increase compared to the previous year. While streaming remains the primary driver, accounting for roughly two-thirds of total revenues, vinyl sales saw a notable surge of 18.5%.

In the summer of 2026, single sales performance was influenced by new FIMI certification thresholds introduced in 2025, which set gold status at 100,000 copies and platinum at 200,000. Only one track, ‘La testa gira’ by Fred De Palma with Anitta and Emis Killa, achieved platinum status with over 250,000 copies sold. Out of nearly forty tracks released between May and August, only four surpassed the gold threshold.
