Italian musical festivals and conducting competitions launch

Several musical events and competitions are scheduled to take place in Italy. The Conservatorio Statale di Musica Il Cimarosa in Avellino has announced an intensive September program featuring the Opera Time review, masterclasses, and the eighth edition of Interferenze. A highlight of the schedule is a piano festival celebrating the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla, including concerts such as “Romanticismo e impressionismo” and “Folklore e modernismo”.

In L'Aquila, the first edition of the Vittorio Antonellini International Orchestra Conducting Competition is launching. Promoted by Solisti Aquilani and the Municipality of L'Aquila as part of the “L'Aquila Italian Capital of Culture 2026” program, the competition received 142 international applications. Fifty young conductors have been selected for live auditions, with semifinals and finals scheduled for September 14–19, 2026. The jury is led by Maestro Salvatore Accardo.
