Italian National Council of Engineers addresses digital skills gap

The National Council of Engineers (CNI) has highlighted a significant discrepancy between Italy's growing digital infrastructure and the lack of specialized professional skills required to manage it. During the ‘Engineers at the Center’ conference in Rome, officials emphasized that while digital tools and infrastructures are advancing, there is an urgent need for trained professionals to oversee cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and the digital transformation of public services.

Key discussions focused on the responsibility of engineers in implementing security measures, the rise of AI-driven digital fraud, and the digitalization of healthcare and public administration. Representatives from the Agency for Digital Italy (AgID) and the National Cybersecurity Agency also participated, stressing the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration and continuous professional training to mitigate emerging technological risks.
