Italian National Parks receive European Sustainable Tourism Charters

The Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park and the Pantelleria National Park have both secured renewals of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS) for the 2026–2030 period.

For the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park, this marks the third consecutive recognition. The renewal includes an expanded territorial network, adding five municipalities—Agordo, Voltago, Taibon Agordino, Soverzene, and Sagron Mis—to the existing 15 members to promote sustainable tourism in adjacent areas. The official award ceremony is scheduled for December 9 in Brussels at the European Committee of the Regions.

The Pantelleria National Park renewal follows an evaluation of 41 actions implemented between 2021 and 2025, which focused on balancing biodiversity protection with local economic development. The assessment included inspections of key natural sites, such as the Bagno dell’Acqua geosite. The park's new strategy for 2026–2030 aims to strengthen sustainable tourism models and improve the environmental performance of local economic activities. Its official recognition ceremony will also take place on December 9 in Brussels.
