Italian national sports teams prepare for upcoming international competitions

The Italian National Cyclocross team, led by technical commissioner Daniele Pontoni, will hold a training camp in Basilicata from October 11 to 16, 2026. The camp serves as preparation for the European Championships in the Netherlands and the World Cup in the Czech Republic. Eleven athletes across junior, under-23, and elite categories will participate, supported by eight staff members. The training will utilize the Basilicata Coast to Coast route, specifically focusing on the Chiaromonte area.

In volleyball, several members of the Italian national team are set to play abroad during the 2026-2027 season. Yuri Romanò has signed a two-year contract with PGE Projekt Warszawa in Poland, while Kamil Rychlicki will join Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie in the PlusLiga. Additionally, Mattia Boninfante is moving to Zenit Saint Petersburg in Russia. Captain Simone Giannelli and much of the core group will remain in the Italian Superlega.
