Italian Navy commander change for ‘Paolo Thaon di Revel’

Commander Christian Giovanni Pellitteri has assumed command of the Italian Navy's multipurpose patrol vessel, ‘Paolo Thaon di Revel’. He succeeds Commander Ferdinando Viola.

The change of command ceremony took place on the deck of the vessel off the coast of Malta while the ship was engaged in the European mission ‘Eunavfor Med Irini’ in the Mediterranean. The ‘Paolo Thaon di Revel’ is based in Taranto.

Pellitteri, a graduate of the Naval Academy, has an extensive military background, including service with the Command of Patrol Forces for coastal surveillance and defense and roles within central Defense organizations.
